Mailchimp: A little time VERY well spent

It’s been an interesting day today.

One of the services I offer is a Mailchimp Etc. Mini Action Package. It includes:

  • a health-check and mini-audit of your Mailchimp account to spot issues and familiarise myself with it.

  • a 2 hour session where we go through YOUR needs and questions live within your account (this is recorded)

  • a summary of the key issues, recommendations, action points and next steps, which his sent to you afterwards with the recording.

I have over 13 years’ experience. That means I know exactly what to look for and can spot anomalies and opportunities quickly and easily, so there’s no time being wasted faffing around making these sessions are incredibly worthwhile.

To give you a feel for what happens, here are little case studies of two of these sessions that I’ve done today:

Mailchimp Case Study #1

  1. Cost for the training: £395

  2. Saved the business: £2,821 per year in Mailchimp fees that they had been paying unnecessarily by adjusting two things in their account during our session. (I make that an immediate 1:7 return on their investment.)

  3. Identified and resolved a key issue that was stopping their emails arrive in inboxes

  4. Identified a key issue with the email design that mean they did not display properly, making the #1 Call to Action unlikely to be acted on (poor engagement showed this to be the case)

  5. Saved the business unnecessary time in several other areas

  6. Left their marketing team feeling happy and confident.

Mailchimp Case Study #2

In fact, for this business we haven’t even had the 2 hour session together yet, so far all I’ve done is the audit. They are in the process of moving from one email marketing platform that wasn’t working for them to Mailchimp but are currently paying for both due to a high number of contacts. However email engagement stats are VERY low, and they didn’t know why or what the issue is, so reached out to me.

Within the health-check I have identified that almost 50% of their audience in both Mailchimp and the original EMP are spam bots (i.e. fake email addresses that don’t belong to real people) because they do not have certain “gatekeeping” measures in place in their entry points. The problems that existed in the original account have simply been migrated across to Mailchimp which is why it’s not performing for them.

That means that:

  1. They’re paying for way more contacts than necessary because they’re not real people.

  2. The engagement stats appear to be incredibly low for the same reason.

  3. The poor engagement because of such a diluted audience is impacting upon their sender reputation and deliverability.

  4. It’s a relatively straightforward fix.

  5. There are HUGE opportunities to develop an existing API a little which connects it to their product, and then use Mailchimp to move people through a very straightforward sales pipeline.

  6. There is a fundamental issue with email design that is significantly impacting engagement and interaction.

We haven’t even got to the live session yet but I’d say that £395 has already been well spent, wouldn’t you?

What about you?

I can’t promise similar results, every single situation is different, but it’s not unusual to find key issues that can be resolved relatively easily. These often save money, time and hassle AND mean that your email marketing can work much harder in making money for you and your business.
